Response:
typography artworks is an area of interest, research from these three artists who use text to convey a message to viewers has inspired me to use more text within advertisement and garment designs.
However, looking at designs from Lawrence Weiner and Edward Ruscha especially, their text seems bold and stern.
using a hard font conveys a stern message in my opinion, I decided that I was going to incorporate humour and tongue&cheek methodology within my designs from now on.
I felt that humour and lightheartedness was not conveyed through my last projects as much as it could be.
I will be using a softer font, with curved edges to convey stern messages regarding consumerism. This will become Ironic as my brand is ultimately a consumerist brand, trying to sell products.
about:
- after feedback from tutors and talking to people I decided it's time for a new direction for my brand - another collection.
- the entirety of my brand has been a take on how consumerist brand feed bullshit to the public to make them buy things they don't really need to mask flaws or to make them more "human".
- now will be creating a brand/ collection that defies consumerism
- a tongue and cheek ideal as my brand is a brand that ultimately hates brands.
- I am doing this firstly to inform but also to portray that people will buy anything to dress 'cool' (the mask)
- explain brand more.
